Can You Handle Acid Reflux Without Nexium?
Acid reflux is a huge epidemic in our day and age, due to the lack of taking care of ourselves properly. After all, we're busier than ever dealing with family, kids, careers, running businesses, and just simply taking care of daily activities that are a must in our lives. Unfortunately, this usually means less time to take care of ourselves.
So, if you're someone who suffers from acid reflux, could you control it without Nexium? The little purple pill is popular for a reason, because it's proven to work wonders with acid reflux sufferers. But, if it's not possible for you to use a medication like Nexium, how can you keep a handle on your acid reflux?
Controlling Acid Reflux Without Nexium
Depending on the severity of your acid reflux, even without Nexium you should be able to maintain at least partial control of the disease by eliminating a lot of the discomfort and pain due to heartburn. Over the counter medication is an obvious first thing to try, as the products are generally reasonably priced and convenient to purchase and use. These products include but are not limited to:
Rolaids
Tums
Pepto Bismol
Mylanta
Some of these products come in a chewable tablet form, and others come in a liquid form. The only difference between the two would be their texture and method of taking the medication. Some of these medications have some weird side effects such as turning your tongue or your stool dark brown, almost black. The products assures us as consumers that these side effects are harmless, but you should always read the label before taking even an over the counter acid reflux medication.
Another way to deal with acid reflux without using Nexium, is to simply change your lifestyle, at least some of it. If you don't already have an exercise regimen, create one! Even if you just allot enough time to walk a half mile each morning or put in 20 minutes of yoga, you will help your digestive system immensely. This in turns, allows you to more handle acid reflux without having to use Nexium or other medications like it.
Eating foods that are less acidic or spicy than you may like isn't going to please your taste buds any, but it sure will please your stomach. You can still add a little spice into foods, but take it easy. You can always envision the awful heartburn you'd feel after eating a spicy meal and this should help keep the food on the simpler side spice wise.
