Controlling Diabetes With Diet




All over the world, people suffer from diabetes and a large number of them experience sever diabetic related problems. Controlling diabetes with diet is not an easy task. You have to stick to a strict diet plan. If you don’t, you could experience severe complications.

When controlling diabetes with diet, your doctor will probably have you follow a diet that is low in carbohydrates and sweets and higher in protein. You probably won’t follow a regular food pyramid diet which encourages you to eat rice, pasta, corn, peas, breads, potatoes etc.

This is because when you’re diabetic, your body turns these items into sugar. Instead, your doctor will likely encourage you to eat and fruit that are low on the glycemic index. On the same token, your doctor will probably encourage you to eat a good source of protein like beef, chicken and fish while avoiding alcohols, fats and sweets.

Although controlling diabetes with diet isn’t easy, it can and fact should be tried because your health is extremely important and a proper diet can help you control your diabetic illness.
