Eating disorders hampers body's normal functioning causes long-term health problems. Eating disorders involve disturbances in eating, such as:
1) Not eating enough, starving or limiting calories to very low level.
2) Eating low Calorie food at the expense of a nutritional and healthy diet.
3) Eating huge amounts of food in short period of time
4) Taking drastic measures to reduce or maintain body weight (purging through vomiting; excessive exercise; fasting)

Treatment/Help:
The goal of treatment is to develop a healthy relationship with food, to develop constructive ways to cope with life and its challenges. Treatment needs to address both physical and psychological aspects of eating disorders.

Psychological therapy:
1. Individual therapy as treatment for eating disorders: Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and difficulties with interpersonal relationships, body image concerns, and identity formation are the concerned issues on which therapy is provided.
2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Emphasizes the relationship between thoughts and feelings by focusing on a person's thought processes.
3. Interpersonal therapy -Helps to analyze difficult relationships and how to resolve them
4. Rational Emotive Therapy -Generates awareness on a one's false beliefs.
5. Psychoanalysis therapy – Helps to analyze a person's past experiences and make correction in present behavior.

Family therapy as treatment for eating disorders:
